Hi, I’m Katharine! I really enjoy helping clients to sort out their belongings and by extension their lives using a kind, friendly and practical approach.
Having been a support worker for ten years, most recently for people with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers, I have particular expertise working with older adults and people going through a transition in their lives or wanting to prepare for the next stage. Organising and decluttering to create more manageable spaces can be invaluable to someone with dementia, but can definitely benefit all of us.
Well-organised spaces empower us to make the most of our homes as well as helping us to appreciate those possessions that really matter. After working together you will:
- benefit from being able to manage your life better due to reduced physical and mental clutter
- save time by being able to find your belongings when needed
- save money from knowing what you own and therefore not having to re-buy items
- appreciate your own treasures that now have more space to be present in your life
- find new ways of living in your transformed space with new systems in place to help you do that efficiently and with a lower impact on the environment
I am verified member of the Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers (APDO) the UK’s membership association for professional organisers which sets standards for the industry and I hold Professional Indemnity and Liability Insurance. I also work in an academic library alongside my organising work.
Despite my best intentions I am a rather chaotic person, partly due to my personality and partly due to life circumstances. I had reached a point where my clutter and mess was making me feel miserable and stuck, and I just didn’t know where to start. I just ignored it but it did not go away by itself. Katharine helped me to sort out various things, most notably my paperwork. She was kind and supportive and I never felt judged, even though some of my most important paperwork was unearthed at the bottom of a bag of wool. She helped me sort out systems to make it work for me in future, and patiently went through all my mess with me, so that it was almost fun. A few weeks later I happily found that instead of taking a few hours, getting the paperwork for my tax return took me a few minutes as it was all in the file marked ‘finances’ instead being all over the floor and in mystery bags in a heap.
